Compounding GLP-1 Semaglutide has been available for about 3 years with millions of people taking the drug, but the rug was recently pulled out from under everybody. It seems there is no longer a shortage, and state licensed pharmacies or physicians (503A’s) that are compounding Semaglutide had until April 22, 2025 to stop dispensing the drug. Outsourcing facilities (503B’s) have until May 22, 2025.
Problems due to FDA intervening on behalf of Novo Nordisk, makers of GLP-1 Semaglutide:
- The lower-priced GLP-1 compounded Semaglutide will no longer be available.
- Those who want to continue using the compounded drug will now have to pay the massive pharmaceutical price.
- If you’re taking the medication for weight loss, your insurance probably won’t cover the costs.
- Unless Ozempic is prescribed for an FDA approved use, like type 2 diabetes, it won’t be covered by insurance.
Most people didn’t realize when they started taking GLP-1 Semaglutide that:
- In order to continue to get the benefits of weight loss, they were going to have to inject Ozempic or Semaglutide for the rest of their life.
- These medicines shrink fat cells.
- These medications also increased the number of your fat cells.
- Fat cells can fill up when we stop dieting.
What does weight loss look like on Ozempic (a GLP-1 Semaglutide)?
It depends on the dosage, but statistics from the New England Journal of Medicine and the Cleveland and Mayo Clinics revealed a 6-7% weight loss over 68 weeks (16 months). If a person weighs 200 pounds they may lose 12-14 pounds. At 300 pounds, the loss is 18-21 pounds in approximately 16 months.
- In the initial 3 months, weight loss was 6%. 25% of that weight loss was muscle and bone loss. (This is not what anyone needs, let alone someone over 50.)
- They saw kidney damage, gastroparesis, vision changes and pancreatitis, all of which were not listed in the drug manufacturers studies.
- People are experiencing connective tissue loss, as well. This is creating something referred to as Ozempic face and Ozempic butt. It’s a loss of connective tissue due to eating too little protein and eating poorly.
- There is no long-term safety data on these higher doses of Ozempic and Wegovy.
- These medications that are approved for long-term use have no long-term use studies to prove that they are safe. They are off-label.
We don’t know how GLP- 1 Semaglutide affects the other receptors in the body either.
- Receptors are in the gastrointestinal tract, smooth muscle cells which are in most organs like the bladder, stomach, blood vessels, uterus, eyes, etc., and enteroendocrine cells.
- The receptors in the enteroendocrine cells are the reason for the slower gastric emptying, which causes you to feel full longer. Food stays in your stomach and gut longer because of reduced motility.
- Semaglutides interfere with normal/natural gut motility.
- There are also a couple of studies showing that the risk and rate of small bowel obstructions goes up with these medications. Again, this is due to the slower gastric emptying.
- There are also receptors in the heart and kidneys.
- To date, they do not even know the role of GLP-1 receptors in the kidneys.
- We also have GLP-1 receptors in the immune system and lungs.
- What is injecting these meds into your body long-term going to do to your immunity and lungs? Literally, nobody knows.
A major concern is the black box warning of thyroid cancer in the handout with your Ozempic.
- Thyroid cancer was a side effect in studies on rats and animals, so they were made to place the warning on the medication.
- Novo Nordisk stated that there is no evidence this would happen in humans.
- A group of French researchers who analyzed data from the French national health care insurance system database observed a risk of thyroid cancer among those taking these drugs, particularly after 1-3 years.
Dr Caleb Alexander, is a co-director of the John’s Hopkins Center for drug safety and effectiveness. He stated, “All too often, patients and clinicians mistakenly view FDA approval as an indication that a product is fully safe and effective. Nothing could be further from the truth. We learn tremendous amounts about a product only once it’s been on the market, and only after use among a broad population.” We have absolutely no idea of the long-term effects involved in using these GLP-1 systems.
So, why not skip the side effects and let us help you understand what it looks like to change your lifestyle?
