Recipe Breakdown

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. grass-fed ground beef
  • 1-2 Tbsp. coconut or avocado oil (for sautéing)
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large head of cabbage, shredded (or use 2 bags of coleslaw mix for convenience)
  • 1/4 cup Tamari Sauce (gluten-free soy sauce) or Coconut Aminos (gluten-free, soy-free)
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • Crushed red pepper flakes, to taste (optional)
  • Pink Himalayan salt and black pepper, to taste

Directions:

1. Brown the Beef:
In a large stainless-steel pot or skillet, heat the coconut or avocado oil over medium-high heat. Add the grass-fed ground beef and brown it on one side without stirring for a few minutes. This helps develop a nice color and flavor.

2. Add Onions and Garlic:
Turn the beef over and add the diced onion and minced garlic to the pot. Stir everything together to brown evenly for another 3-5 minutes, until the onions are softened and the beef is cooked through.

3. Incorporate Cabbage and Seasonings:
Add the shredded cabbage, Tamari sauce (or Coconut Aminos), ground ginger, and optional crushed red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

4. Cook Until Tender:
Reduce the heat to medium-low and cover the skillet. Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and has cooked down.

5. Adjust Seasonings:
Taste and adjust any seasonings with Pink Himalayan salt and black pepper according to your preference.

Serve this Cabbage Beef Skillet hot, and enjoy a nutritious and hearty meal that is bursting with flavor! This dish pairs wonderfully on its own or can be served alongside cauliflower rice for a complete and satisfying dinner. Enjoy!
