Recipe Breakdown
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. ground turkey (choose a slightly fatty blend, not the leanest)
- 2 Tbsp. coconut or avocado oil, divided
- 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
- 1 tsp. ground sage
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp. pink Himalayan salt
- 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
- Red pepper flakes to taste, or 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional for a kick)
Directions:
1. Prepare the Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, 1 tablespoon of the oil, and all the spices (dried thyme, ground sage, garlic powder, pink Himalayan salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper). Mix well until evenly combined.
2. Form the Patties:
Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape each portion into patties.
3. Pan-Fry the Patties:
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil. Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the skillet. Cook for about 4-6 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely browned and cooked through (with no pink remaining in the center).
Baking Option:
If you prefer baking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Instead of forming patties, roll the turkey mixture into 16 balls. Place them on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until browned and fully cooked through.
These Breakfast Turkey Sausages can be enjoyed hot off the skillet or made ahead of time to be reheated for busy mornings. They’re a great addition to any breakfast spread! Enjoy your delicious, healthy breakfast!
